Run by young people, for young people, with the kind of rigor that produces actual scientists and stewards.

Maw'il sits at the crossroads of wildlife biology, veterinary medicine, ecology, and public health. These fields are not separate conversations. A disease outbreak in a wildlife population is a veterinary problem, an ecological problem, and a public health problem, all at once. The students who will actually solve these challenges are the ones who learned to think that way early. That's what Maw'il trains.

We say what the evidence says, and nothing more. We cite our sources. We acknowledge uncertainty. We don't sensationalise, and we don't simplify to the point of misleading.
Ethical Wildlife Engagement
The animals and ecosystems we study are not props for our education. Every program we run, every case we discuss, and every field we enter is approached with genuine respect for the lives and systems involved.

Leadership at Maw'il isn't a badge. It's a role with real decisions, real responsibilities, and real consequences. We believe young people are ready for that, and we structure our organisation to prove it.

I’m Yazan Aref, Founder of Maw’il. BIG time animal enthusiast and aspiring zoologist with years of experience in research, science communication, and conservation outreach. My work focuses on how animals adapt physiologically, behaviourally, and biochemically to survive in harsh environments, particularly within Arabia. Through Maw’il, I translate rigorous, evidence-based science into engaging public education, with the aim of inspiring responsible wildlife observation and long-term conservation awareness.
